M3GAN is the first big horror film of the year and it’s already an absolute hit. With a budget of 10 million US dollars, the eponymous doll was sold worldwide $100 million import. A clear sign for those responsible for the project: the audience is enthusiastic and wants more.
After there have been various rumors in the past few days, work on the sequel has now been officially announced. As Variety reports, the M3GAN 2.0 update will start on January 17, 2025 in the US in cinemas. It can be assumed that the German theatrical release will take place in a similar period.
Here comes M3GAN 2.0: the evil horror doll returns for more bloodshed
M3GAN’s story centers on game developer Gemma (Allison Williams) who takes in her niece Candy (Violet McGraw) after her parents die. So that Candy is not alone, she develops one artificial intelligence in the form of a human robot doll named M3GAN.

As the film progresses, M3GAN transforms into a nasty killing machine. With Gemma and Candy surviving, we can look forward to seeing you again in part 2. Allison Williams and Violet McGraw have been confirmed for the sequel. Screenwriter Akela Cooper (known for Malignant) is also returning.
