With the dancing and singing killer doll M3gan, the young cinema year 2023 gets its first horror hype. The first trailer for the film by producer James Wan immediately triggered meme fireworks on the internet. Of course, the studio noticed that, too further cuts before publication resulted.

M3gan was cut for a larger audience due to trailer hype
According to Comic Book, M3gan screenwriter Akela Cooper told the Los Angeles Times that the horror film was initially planned to be much more violent. In their original screenplay significantly more deaths and the gore content was also more drastic.
However, the version of M3gan that is now appearing has received a tamer PG-13 rating, which is “thanks” to the success of the trailers. After Universal found out that M3gan, among other things on TikTok among many younger people about the hype meme was made, the film should be made accessible to a larger target group. Therefore, more drastic and gory scenes were cut from the horror film.
The screenwriter revealed that it also means another Unrated version from M3gan there. After the cinema version, it should definitely be released for home cinema at a later date.
The tamer PG-13 or FSK 16 version of M3gan starts with us on January 12, 2023 on the big screen.
