The statement stated that in order to achieve this goal, national dialogues should be initiated with the participation of all segments of Syrian society in order to end military conflicts as soon as possible, prevent terrorist acts, and establish a comprehensive government that represents all Syrian people, and that Tehran should join the United Nations (UN) to advance the political process. It was noted that it supports international mechanisms focusing on Security Council resolution 2254.
The statement stated that the relations between Damascus and Tehran “have a long history and have always been friendly” and that Iran expects these relations to continue with an approach based on the common interests of the two countries and the fulfillment of international goals.
In the statement, it was stated that Iran “will make every effort to establish security and stability in Syria, will continue its consultations with all influential parties for this purpose, and will adopt appropriate approaches and positions, taking into account the attitudes of influential actors in the Syrian political and security field.”
