Who would have thought? After watching the very young Bachelors fall in love for endless seasons, RTL has taken a huge step: there will finally be a Bachelor offshoot for seniors in Germany too. The so-called Golden Bachelor is intended to show that age is just a number – and that the desire for love doesn’t just magically evaporate at the age of 60.
Now RTL has presented its first Golden Bachelor: Franz Stärk. The charming silver fox is already 73 years old and is looking for a lady on TV with whom he can enjoy his retirement. He used to work as a school principal, but now he enjoys spending his time doing sports: his biggest hobbies are golfing and cycling. After 12 years of being single, he is finally ready to commit again.

In the USA, the Golden Bachelor caused a lot of drama
The first season of the daring over-60 experiment was shown in the USA last year. Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner (72 at the time) was convincing as a charming widower. In typical Bachelor tradition, he didn’t let anything go wrong: there was wild flirting in the dream villa – In the end there was even a dream wedding in front of the camera. After just five months, the marriage broke up again. So there is potential for drama even with people over 60.
The Golden Bachelor is starting soon – but unfortunately not on TV
Fans of sophisticated Bachelor entertainment can soon look forward to the first episodes of the Golden Bachelor. As RTL has revealed, it will be the show from December 3rd on RTL+ show. If you prefer to tune in on TV, you’ll have to be patient. The season is scheduled to start on RTL in January 2025, but further details are not yet known.
