The first game against New Zealand

The first game against New Zealand

It was a long time ago. A very long time, even. On January 1, 1906, the French rugby team played its first official match during a test match against New Zealand. The All Blacks had therefore been the first opponents in the history of the Blues. The meeting took place at the Parc des Princes in Paris, which was then in a velodrome configuration.

If in the first half, France had stood up to the New Zealanders (3-8), the second had turned into a demonstration and a correction. The final score was heavy: 8-38, with ten tries conceded (the try was then worth three points). It must be said that, already at the time, New Zealand reigned over the (small) oval world.
