The first details will certainly disappoint many fans

Fans of the nerd group around Sheldon Cooper & Co. can look forward to supplies. A few days ago, a new The Big Bang Theory series was announced, which will be the second offshoot from the sitcom universe after Young Sheldon. The details are still vague, however Fans should not adjust to the familiar and well-known.

New The Big Bang Theory spin-off is set to be very different from the original

From the original Variety report on the upcoming TBBT spin-off, little information can be gleaned about the content of the new series. In addition to the involvement of the original showrunner Chuck Lorre, the following details should probably be certain:

  • The new The Big Bang Theory series is set to take place in the present and at a mostly new cast set.
  • Guest appearances by the old stars should be possible, but not certain.
  • The episodes of the upcoming TBBT spin-off are said to be for around an hour be.
  • The last point in particular suggests that a radical reorientation of the TBBT brand is being tackled here. The move from the entertaining sitcom format to episodes that are more than twice as long could also mean a genre change. The next The Big Bang Theory offshoot does not have to be quite so radical.

TBBT co-creator Bill Prady spoke to Entertainment Weekly in 2022 about the fact that he and Chuck Lorre definitely not interested in a sequel to the original are:

I know people bring characters together for reunions and things like that, but it’s hard to imagine what you would see after the finale because I found the finale to be one of the most beautiful and satisfying episodes. The closure it brought was amazing. It’s hard to imagine re-enacting the story after that.

Together with the fact that the new TBBT series is set to play with new stars in the present and guest appearances by the cult characters are only theoretically possible, fans of The Big Bang Theory should be prepared for an unexpected spin-off.
