In The First Descendant, a small mistake can wipe out all your progress. But you can easily prevent this.
How is your progress deleted? As some players report on Reddit and the official The First Descendant Discord server, you may lose your progress if you decide to subsequently link your account to a Nexon account.
You will then see the progress of the Nexon account, which has been unused until now and has no progress.
How can you protect yourself? You should currently avoid linking your account to a Nexon account. This is the only way to ensure that you do not lose your progress.
If you linked your account to a Nexon account when you started the game and only made progress afterwards, your progress is safe.
What to do when progress is gone? You can unlink your account from your Nexon account. This should result in your progress returning – at least according to some players’ experiences.
Has Nexon commented on the issue? No, we currently have no statement from Nexon regarding the problem. However, since the developers have so far responded attentively to feedback from the community and the community is actively sharing the error on Reddit and Discord, it is quite possible that the developers will still respond.
Many players can probably do without the linking at the moment. However, it is annoying if you started playing on one platform and now want to continue playing on another. The First Descendant does offer cross-progression, but that only works with a Nexon account.
