The loot shooter The First Descendant is very reminiscent of Destiny, but with a cast of supermodels. Now the developers are promising a feature that will allow the numerous skins to really come into their own.
What is this feature? As a developer revealed on Discord, The First Descendant will have a feature that the community particularly wanted: so-called jiggle physics. This refers to how the laws of physics affect certain materials.
Specifically, the term usually refers to the female breasts and buttocks, which wobble with every movement as if they were made of jelly.
Such an emphasis on female body parts often occurs in anime and gaming, although it is perceived somewhat differently here than in East Asia: Amazon is removing a feature from the new MMORPG Blue Protocol: acceptable in Japan, not here.
The First Descendant is strongly reminiscent of Destiny, but the shooter stood out from the start with its focus on skins. The female descendants in particular are often given scantily clad versions. Jiggle Physics is only logical. What’s more surprising is that the game was launched without this essential feature.
Players joke: History is being written here
This is how it is received by the players: The community is celebrating the good news extensively in The First Descendant subreddit. The new feature is being actively discussed in a Reddit thread with almost 2,400 upvotes and more than 500 comments.
Many reactions seem amused, but definitely positive. As one user writes: History is being made, to which the thread creator replies: And we are all part of witnessing the greatness. (via Reddit)
Some people are even saying they want to return to the game thanks to this change. Even die-hard Free2Play players can suddenly imagine spending money on a skin to support the developers.
But even players who don’t care too much about Jell-O animations could benefit from the change. Because The First Descendant is free and is financed through in-game purchases, especially skins.
Some users joke that certain players are single-handedly keeping The First Descendant’s servers running with their skin purchases (via Reddit).
However, others note that the shooter cannot really grow beyond its core demographic with this strategy; it would need really good endgame content. It should be added with Season 2 at the beginning of December.
When exactly Jiggle Physics will be introduced into the game is still unknown. The announcement on Discord apparently came immediately after the decision to implement the feature was made, and the developer in charge was so concerned that he wanted to convey the good news directly to fans.
As the community’s reactions show, The First Descendant has hit the mark when it comes to player needs. The action RPG Stellar Blade also stands out in this aspect: The “18+ game” Stellar Blade gives fans exactly what they want in the new update for the PS5
