Intoxicated fans and fights between young people have colored the race day at Holmenkollen.

In Holmenkollen’s legendary cross-country skiing competitions, a familiar topic has surfaced again, i.e. the behavior of the public.

The organizers have had a hard time with drunken fans and fights in recent years. In 2018, eight people were injured, one seriously, in a big fight.

It happened on Saturday too. Norwegian newspaper VG by a fight broke out among several young people.

Swedish newspaper Expresssen by the police had to handcuff several young people and take them away from the competition area.

– There was a fight like at a nakki kiosk. Alcohol and something sweet smelled on the track, from Swedish skiing stars Moa Lundgren said after the race to Expressen, suspecting the sweet smell suggested drugs.

NRK’s by the day was colored by drunken youth fights. Young people between the ages of 16 and 20 have needed help.

The fire chief interviewed by VG by Robert Corell according to the first aid tent at Holmenkollen is full of injured and unconscious people.

Norway’s TV2, on the other hand, commented on the matter from the Oslo police Christopher Bang. He said that 40 people had to be removed from Holmenkollen on Saturday.

One of Sweden’s top names Ebba Andersson strongly criticized the fans rioting at Holmenkollen.

– That kind of thing doesn’t belong in sports events, Andersson said.

On Saturday, Andersson was second before the overwhelming winner and his national teammate Frida Karlsson.
