According to the fire authority, the large forest fire in Mariposa in the USA is still completely out of control. It is the beginning of the fire season in California, which this year is expected to be unusually difficult due to drought and high temperatures.
The fire broke out Friday in Mariposa County where Gov. Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency. The fire was described as explosive on Saturday, as flames spread through the parched vegetation, a result of the worst drought in decades.
As of Sunday, the fire has consumed more than 56 square kilometers of forest land, and is out of control, according to the fire authorities. The cause of the fire is being investigated. Over 6,000 people have been ordered to leave their homes in the sparsely populated and rural area.
