A daily gesture linked to your smartphone would be much more dangerous than it seems. A firefighter sounds the alarm on this mania which could well turn to a disaster.
David, firefighter at Kent Fire and Rescue Serviceuse social networks to alert on the dangers related to electronic devices. Its message is clear: certain practices can be dangerous and must be avoided at all costs. Indeed, according to statistics, several hundred domestic fires are caused each year by loads in charge.
Certain chargers, notably those of counterfeiting or poor quality, would be particularly at risk. “Many people have cheap and defective phone chargers, but even authentic and new chargers can trigger fires”he warns. He also specifies that it is generally not the battery of the phone that sets fire, but the cable of the charger itself.
On social networks, many Internet users have testified to their own experience. A mother says that her daughter’s charger caught fire in the middle of the night: “Fortunately, he made a big noise that awakened him”. Another user explains that he was awakened by an unusual noise: “I heard my phone burst, I stretched my hand to pick it up and the charger smoked and sparked. Faced with these risks, firefighters agree on one thing: “If you can, we advise you to load your phone when you are there and when you are awake”, highly recommends David.
However, following the expert’s recommendations, some Internet users refuse to modify their routine: “I don’t have time to load my phone when I am awake. I have been in charge all night since I had one”, tells one of them. Although it may seem restrictive, this simple change would considerably reduce the risk of domestic fire. Information not to be taken lightly.
