The continuation of the playing career of multi-year NHL goaltender Antti Raanna is still a question mark. The Carolina Hurricanes do not have a farm club, so it is not yet known where Raanna’s path will lead in the future.
The Carolina Hurricanes sent out in the middle of a goaltending crisis Antti Raannan, 34, to the NHL transfer list. A day later, on Sunday evening, it was reported that the other NHL clubs did not take the experienced Finnish guard, who will pay 1.5 million dollars for his last contract season.
Carolina started the season as one of the championship favorites, but when more than a third of the regular season has now been played, the team’s performance has left a lot of room for improvement. Carolina has a total of 34 points from 30 matches, which is the 15th best in the entire series.
Raanta’s teammate, Vice-Captain of Hurricanes Sebastian Aho the journalist commented on the former credit watcher being on the transfer list To Walt Ruff.
– This must be a wake-up call to the dressing room. Everyone needs to take a hard look in the mirror. All the difficulties we have struggled with are not her (Raanna’s) responsibility. It never works out that only one guy is to blame for something. The goalkeeper was a tough spot, you are either a hero or an anti-hero, Aho stated.
Raanta’s early season has gone under the bench and his save percentage is the lowest in the entire series at 85.4. The average number of goals conceded per match is also weak – 3.61. In the last five matches, 23 goals have been scored behind Raanta’s back. Raanna has won six of its 14 matches in the season.
The injury-prone Rauma player has previously performed at a good level in the NHL. In his entire 11-year NHL career, the save percentage is 91.5 and there are 133 winning games and 20 clean sheets.
Sidelined due to injury Fredrik Andersen, 34, has been the best of Carolina’s goaltenders, although his stats aren’t stellar either. In six games, he has five wins with a save percentage of 89.4.
Russian With Pyotr Kotshetkov, 24, has 14 matches under his belt like Raanta and the same number of wins, i.e. six. The save percentage (89.0) and the average number of goals conceded (2.77) are slightly better than the Finns.
Since the pucks haven’t stuck to Raanna or Kotshetkov recently, the Hurricanes called for emergency help from the ECHL, which acts as a farm league for the AHL series, the Canadian guard from Norfolk Yaniv Peretsin23, who could make his debut Monday morning when Carolina takes on Washington at home.
