Jenny Rautionaho and Julia Kykkänen reached the top ten in the ski jumping World Cup.
The Finnish jumpers had a great day at the ski jumping World Cup race in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Jenny Rautionaho was Fifth and Julia Kykkänen ninth.
It is the first time that two Finnish women have reached the top ten in the same World Cup race.
The two were also in those positions after the opening round. In the qualifying, Kykkänen was in an even wilder mood, being a wonderful second.
Rautionaho was fifth also before Christmas in Engelberg, Switzerland, so he now missed the best ranking of his career. Rautionaho reached the top 10 for the fourth time in his career.
The last time Kykkänen reached the top ten was in February 2017. Kykkänen has been on the podium twice, when he was third in Falun and Hinzenbach in the winter of 2014.
The race itself was won by Slovenia Nika Prevc before Norway Eirin Maria Kvandalia and Canada Abigail Stratea.
The Garmisch-Partenkirchen race is part of the unofficial Women’s Central European Hill Week. At the turn of the year, the event will also be contested in Oberstdorf, Germany, and Villach, Austria.
After five races, Rautionaho is in eighth place in the overall points and Kykkänen is in 16th place.
