Otto Virtanen jumped up five places on the world list.
The Finnish top of the men’s singles world rankings changed on Monday, when the 23-year-old Otto Virtanen jumped up five places in the most recent world list and passed Finland’s perennial number one player, the 25-year-old Emil Ruusuvuoren. Virtanen is now ranked 91st and Ruusuvuori is ranked 94th.
Virtanen, who has been in a good mood lately, got into the top 100 for the first time at the end of October and now managed to improve his positions. Last week, Virtanen advanced to the quarterfinals of the ATP challenger tournament played in Helsinki.
Ruusuvuori has been in the top 100 for more than four years, and last year was at his best at number 37. He has been on a break since August, so his ranking in the world rankings has dropped drastically. At the beginning of August, he was still in his 70s.
Italian Jannik Sinner to continue at the peak, Germany Alexander Zverev is second and Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz third. Finland in doubles Harri Heliövaara continues on the 14th.
