The Helsinki Horse Show weekend culminates in the steeplechase world cup competition on Sunday. The broadcast on TV2 and Areena starts at 1:45 p.m.
The horse trade is currently hot with the Paris Olympics approaching. The Helsinki Horse Show will feature many show jumping world stars who will compete for medals at the Olympic level next summer.
In terms of dressage, the Helsinki Horse Show does not offer the same splendor, but of course the Finnish European Championship representatives have also been included. Competing for the first time Anna Tallberg Grevens Zorro on his horse. The rider has broken the 72 percent limit at the Grand Prix level this season.
Earlier, it was reported that the champion of Finland and the Nordic countries was also the champion Ville Vaurio would participate in the competition in Helsinki. However, Vaurio’s champion horse G Star unexpectedly went on sale in Germany.
– There is now good movement in the horse market and demand for top horses as the Olympic Games in Paris approach. The nationalities of the horses must be changed before the turn of the year, Vaurio opens an interesting situation.
Vaurio managed to work with G Star for just under two years and made “Stara” a star as his name suggests. At the European Championships, the horse also got to perform for a large and knowledgeable audience. Although there was no success in the EC arena, the horse rose considerably in the value scale.
– I am grateful for the time and the journey I was able to make with Stara. In addition to the championships, I was able to make my debut at the EC level and on my 34th birthday. I will never forget it, Vaurio thinks about the past summer.
Ironically, yes. G Star is waiting for a new owner Henri Ruosteen at a stable in Germany.
The Finnish team did not manage to get a team place in Paris from the European Championships, and the possible country of Tokyo’s Olympic representative Henri Ruoste depends on the ranking at the end of the year. Ruoste’s Olympic horse Kontestro is still suffering from a mysterious illness, which has even been suspected to be caused by sabotage. Rust’s chances now depend on the Campari horse.

Also Emma Kanerva is still realistically looking for a place in the Olympic Games for the rest of the year.
Ville Vaurio, on the other hand, works in his own country, with the aim of raising and training future stars. Even now, the 4-year-old brothers from Kiuruvedi are working.
– Success in sports competitions is not a measure of happiness. I’ve learned that good guys are good guys, whether they’re champions or not, Vaurio laughs.
– Happiness comes from the fact that loved ones, be they horses or people, are satisfied, he continues.
Vaurio has made the decision to live in Finland, which does not necessarily promote an international racing career. However, the family man from Vantaa, as he calls himself nowadays, has also had a taste of horse life abroad. During the last 15 years, he has worked several times at Ruoste’s stable in Germany.
– Henri has helped me a lot in my career. However, my family and I have decided to settle back in Finland. It’s not easy, but I enjoy my work with horses and the fact that I get to make others better, he refers to both young horses and riders to be trained.
Speaking of young riders, Vaurio’s best and worst Horse Show memories go back to childhood.
– I took part in the pony trill, which went quite nicely until the final greeting. Then, when the audience gave a thunderous applause, the pony decided to go his own way. I came to the plot, so to speak. I remember it was still shown somewhere during the end of the news, after which the news anchor stated that I hope the girl was not hurt. I haven’t performed at the Horse Show since then, Vaurio laughs.
He said he wasn’t laughing then.
