Finnish artificial intelligence company AMD buys Silo AI for 665 million dollars. The matter was announced on Wednesday.
According to the company’s press release, Silo AI is Europe’s largest private artificial intelligence company.
CEO of artificial intelligence company Silo AI Peter Sarlin gave an interview about artificial intelligence recently.
– Our hypothesis has long been that artificial intelligence creates value as part of digital services and products, Sarlin said.
Now Sarlin’s company has been sold to the United States, but Sarlin will continue to lead the company, according to the companies’ joint press release.
Silo AI has developed Finnish language models in cooperation with the TurkuNLP research group of the University of Turku. More than a year ago, Fin GPT3 was published, which is the largest purely Finnish language model. In the spring, the Poro language model covering Finnish, English and software languages saw the light of day. In the summer, Silo AI introduced Viking, developed for Nordic languages.
– When the models are derived primarily from Finnish-language data and these major languages are used to strengthen it, then that reasoning ability comes from the Finnish-language data. It means that these models reflect the way the Finnish language is used, Sarlin describes.
