The fine gesture after Armand Duplanti’s new world record attracts attention – praised by the people: “Becomes world famous”

Armand Duplantis, 23, broke his own world record, again.
It is highly praised in the Avesta, from which “Mondo” has its roots.
– Now we have raised the bar again! writes
the municipality on its Facebook page.

On Sunday, it was time for another world record Armand “Mondo” Duplantis. The 23-year-old raised the bar by one centimeter and wrote the new world record from 6.22 to 6.23 meters. After the performance, Duplantis could be seen running towards the crowd and celebrating with parts of his family.

Avesta acts

Mondo has now broken the world record seven times. The first time he achieved a world record was in 2020, when the bar was 6.17. The feat of Duplantis has been hailed from all over the place, by experts, media and fans.

But he has also been praised by none other than Avesta municipality. Mondo has roots from there as his mother, Helena Duplantis, is born in Avesta. To pay attention to the world star, the small town has built a monument that represents a pole vaulting position, close to the work of art Dalahästen. Armand Duplanti’s name is on the scaffold, and the bar is on the current world record.

Paying tribute to Duplantis

Twelve hours after Mondo broke the world record again, there was an update on the artwork. Avesta municipality had already been on the move and raised the bar by one centimeter, to his new world record.
– By changing the numbers, we put Avesta on the map. Every time Mondo takes a new world record, he also gives our children and young people the insight that you can reach as far and as high as you like, says the municipal councilor Blerta Krenzi on the municipality’s Facebook page.
