The Finals beta is online – Here’s how to play the new fast-paced shooter with full map destruction

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The Finals is a new first-person shooter where you can bang your head through any wall. The first-person shooter relies on full destruction, rapid movement, class gameplay and is now in a closed beta. Here you will find a short introduction and all information about the beta on Steam.

Embark Studios was founded by DICE veterans who previously worked on Battlefield, among other things. They have set themselves the task of developing a fast-paced first-person shooter that focuses on the destruction of the map.

The result is The Finals – a shooter with fast movement, 3 different classes and more explosions in one match than conquering a breakthrough point in Battlefield 2042. And that’s a lot at the moment.

  • From March 7th to March 21st you can test The Finals in the closed beta. Go to the game’s Steam page and request access (via Steam). However, there is no guarantee that you will be allowed to participate.
  • The Finals does not have a release date yet. However, it comes as a Free2Play game on Steam and is financed by a Battle Pass and an in-game shop with cosmetics.

Besides map destruction, what does The Finals offer? The shooter is defined by short rounds that only last 8 minutes. That feels very short. A total of 4 teams, each consisting of 3 competitors, fight in a match.

Teams must first activate a cash canister and stuff the canister into a cashout box. The box must be defended until the cash lands in the account. If you go down or wipe your entire team, you can lose cash again.

Whoever has the most cash in their account at the end of 8 minutes wins the round. In ranked mode, it all happens as a tournament.

You have many tools at your disposal, which are divided into 3 classes: easy, medium and heavy. Each class has its own weapons and gadgets, some of which it shares with the other classes. But each class has its own specializations that only this class has.

The Finals is pure destruction: Here the complete ground under the objective is missing.

The light class offers mobile gadgets and a grappling hook as a specialization. The middle one features an assault rifle and support gadgets. The Big One has 3 hands full of explosives and a shove attack that rumbles through walls.

The choice is large, agreements for team synergies important. Together with the “dynamic” map construction, this allows for a lot of tactics and team gameplay.

For more variety, smaller events also start in every match – something like low gravity or more damage. The last few minutes bring a pinch of extra chaos.

As soon as there is more information about the release and the beta participation, you will find out about it on MeinMMO. Until then, leave us your first impressions of the game and check out the gameplay at the top of the article. If you have any questions about The Finals, feel free to ask them in the comments.
