The X-Men were a guarantee of superhero entertainment in the cinema before the MCU even existed. After almost 20 years, however, it was over and the big finale was X-Men: Dark Phoenix – even if it didn’t feel like a grand conclusion. Hopefully the X-Men will return soon. Until then you can watch the film on TV.
TV tip: This is what X-Men: Dark Phoenix with Sophie Turner is about
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) follows the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, marks the end of the prequel series and primarily revolves around Jean Gray (Sophie Turner). The mutant absorbs the energy of a solar flare, which not only massively increases their abilities. Memories of a car accident she caused also come back to life, in which her parents died.
Jean Gray becomes an enemy of the X-Men, even seeks help from Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and ultimately meets Vuk. The shapeshifter belongs to an alien race and wants Jean to transfer her power to him. Meanwhile, the other X-Men try to stop them and Magneto and Beast actually cooperate.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix was a huge flop and the end of the X-Men series
According to Deadline, the last proper X-Men film to date has a Made a loss of over $100 million. On the one hand, this is obviously due to a lack of marketing and the unfavorable release time, but also to the film itself. It was punished by fans and critics as the worst X-Men film ever and was even worse received than X-Men: Apocalypse .
Which of course seems very sad considering the time-honored series and the importance of the characters in the comic universe. But there is hope: this is the last X-Men film under Fox. It was shot before the mergerwhich brought the X-Men back to Marvel and under the auspices of Disney.
Fans have been waiting for five years for a new, real X-Men film to finally come out, but… the wait will soon be over. At least it looks like the MCU will soon have a lot of growth, as Doctor Strange 2 and The Marvels have more than just hinted at.
