The Dead of Marnow surprised in 2021 as a tightly told and exciting thriller series on the first. 19 million people watched and it hailed hymns of praise for the rousing production and the two main actors, Petra Schmidt-Schaller and Sascha Alexander Gersak. They were even awarded the German Television Prize for their roles in 2021.
The sequel with the full title Dark Heart – The Dead of Marnow Season 2 can easily keep up with this and convinces with an ambitious narrative style on two time levels. The finale is on TV this week – which you can already stream for free and ad-free.

On TV: The first four episodes of the second season were broadcast on December 7th on Das Erste. There are now two episodes left, airing on December 11th.

It’s worth tuning in: Season 2 is an ambitious thriller and the plan really works
In Season 1 we follow a relatively straightforward narrative. Our two investigators Lona Mendt and Frank Elling only discovered the evil machinations of a GDR pharmaceutical company quite late. Season 2 turns the tables. Here we learn quite early on that human trafficking is the focus, and the series starts straight away with Mendt, Elling and an underage witness. You must protect her at all costs, but from whom?
