the film will take place on Earth, Jon Landau makes revelations

the film will take place on Earth Jon Landau makes

Now that Avatar 2 has reached its famous “break even”, or break-even point in our beautiful language, James Cameron can calmly launch the production of the other three Avatars, which he has already prepared upstream. We know that Avatar 3 is already in the box, since it was entirely shot at the same time as the second episode. Post-production has even been launched, with the film having a release date set for December 18, 2024. We also know that Avatar 4 has also been largely shot, and that filming will be able to resume with a vengeance, with the latest box office results. But what about the fifth? This is undoubtedly one of the most interesting episodes, especially if we rely on the comments that Jon Landau, the producer, made to the media Gizmodo a few weeks ago. The latter has indeed revealed that this Avatar 5 will take place partly on Earth, in order to show us another facet of human beings, but also to allow Neytiri and the Na’vi people to discover this other race.

It’s funny, I hadn’t planned to talk about it, but Jim mentioned his cutting, so I can talk about it (remember that Cameron thought of each episode as one of the “stand alone” films, whose plot works solo, but that the whole thing forms a single story, editor’s note).

In movie 5, there will be a whole part that will take place on Earth. We will go there to open people’s eyes, open Neytiri’s eyes too. Because the Earth, it is not only represented by the GDR (the military organization, editor’s note). Like the fact that you define yourself by the choices you make in life.

Not all human beings are bad, not all Na’vi are good either (Avatar 3 will allow us to discover this reversed facet). This is what happens on Earth and this is what we want to show Neytiri.

By revealing this part of the plot, Jon Landau also confirms that Neytiri will remain alive until the last act imagined by James Cameron. Good news for fans of this character, who has become incredibly bad-ass since the last fight scene in Avatar 5. What will happen to the other members of his family? Will Jake Sully survive? What about his children? Many questions that will be answered in a few years, in 2028 precisely, the year in which Avatar 5 will be released if production has not been delayed by then. Anyway, all this is already very exciting.
