Dany Boyle’s film will be one of the cinema events of the year 2025. “28 Years Later” has finally unveiled its first trailer.
“What will become of humanity?” This is the question that seems to be at the heart of 28 years later. The third episode of the zombie trilogy created by Danny Boyle and started in 2003 with 28 days later releases in cinemas on June 18, 2025. The universe developed by the Oscar-winning British filmmaker expands even further, as we discovered in the chilling trailer posted online on December 10.
It takes place nearly three decades after the Fury Virus escaped from a biological weapons laboratory. Some have found a way to survive among the infected, especially on a heavily defended island. One of them, however, leaves her to accomplish a mission that will allow him to discover new secrets about the infected, but also the survivors. Danny Boyle’s third film features stars of the big screen in the cast, namely Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, The Last Duel), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train) or even Ralph Fiennes (Conclave, Schindler’s List…).
Cillian Murphy is also announced in the casting, but also as executive producer. Tom Rothman, president of Sony Pictures, assured Deadline last May that the actor “will be back, but in a surprising way.” Looking at the trailer, this indeed seems the case! Some wonder if his character, Jim, would appear as an infected person. The resemblance is indeed disturbing, especially since we do not know what happens to the character after 28 days later. You can check it for yourselves below (at 1’54), before discovering the film in theaters.
Synopsis – For 28 years, Britain has been living under the yoke of a terrible epidemic that infects people into rabid humans. However, non-infected people remain in groups, and one of them leaves one of these isolated groups to embark on a quest.
