After Snow White and Lilo & Stitch, it’s Rapunzel’s turn to see her adventures adapted into live action shots. On social networks, fans are already imagining their dream casting.
Fans have been dreaming of it for many years, it’s now official: the cartoon Rapunzel will also be entitled to its adaptation in real shots (or “live-action”). After Aladdin, Mufasa, The Lion King, The Little Mermaidand soon Snow White, Lilo & Stitch Or Moanathis announcement confirms the strategy intensified since 2010 by Disney to adapt its animated classics in the most realistic way possible (some have been huge box office successes).
For now, this adaptation of Rapunzel is still nebulous. If the project is launched, the creative team is not yet known. Michael Gracey, filmmaker to whom we owe The Greatest Showman And Better Man is in discussions to direct the film. The screenplay will be written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who previously worked with Thor: Love and Thunder and who is currently at the helm of Remember… last summer planned for 2025.
But the question that obsesses fans is who will play the protagonists. If Mandy Moore voiced Rapunzel in the animated version, it seems unlikely that the now 40-year-old actress would reprise the role. On social networks, many are asking that Florence Pugh (The daughters of Doctor March, A second part) embodies it, because of its resemblance to the heroine, but the name of the singer Sabrina Carpenter is also widely mentioned. For the role of Flynn Ryder, the name of Taylor Zakhar Perez (My Dear F***ing Prince, The Kissing Booth 2 and 3), Jonathan Bailey or Luke Newton (both in The Bridgertons Chronicle) are regularly cited on X because of their physical resemblance to the character. We will now see what the casting directors’ choices will be.
