The fence keeps the gold grip: “Must win the rest”

Both Häcken and Hammarby have been responsible for unexpected points losses at the end, as the women’s league contracts.

But on Saturday, both top teams stood up to the pressure and each took their three-pointer.

This means that Häcken, with three rounds left to play, maintains its narrow lead in the battle for gold. One point separates Hammarby. Third-placed Linköping is currently five behind, but can reduce the distance to a two-point margin if they win against Växjö on Sunday.

“Just to shoot”

Bottom team Brommapojkarna did not have much to oppose the league leader at Hisingen on Saturday afternoon. The shooting star Felicia Schröder scored 1-0 in the twelfth minute, nicely played by Anna Anvegård.

Earlier this week, 16-year-old Schröder also scored one of Häcken’s goals in the Champions League qualifier against Dutch side Twente.

“It was quite a large area so it was just a matter of shooting,” says Schröder to Viaplay about the lead goal against BP.

Risks relegation

In the 55th minute, the home team then reeled the visitors up for scores, and the fine attack ended with Aisha Masaka heading in 2-0. It was the 19-year-old Tanzanian striker’s first Allsvenskan goal since she joined the club at the end of March.

Her second came twenty minutes later. On Schröder’s cross, Masaka again stayed in front with his forehead and punctuated the match.

— I am so happy to have scored. This hopefully means I will score more goals. This is just the beginning, Masaka told Viaplay after the match.

Monica Jusu Bah finally made it 4–0 with a long shot in added time.

While Häcken is chasing SM gold, the Brommapojkarna have to brace themselves for a nervous end to the season. With three games left to play, BP is in the qualification spot, but at the highest risk of going out of the series. Uppsala is just one point behind, and faces relegated rivals IFK Kalmar away from home on Sunday.
