The female deminers work to secure Iraq: “Want to clear my country”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Landmines left behind by the terrorist group IS are still claiming lives in Iraq. Outside the city of Mosul, the country’s first female demining team is working to allow the local population to return home.

The areas of Mosul are among the most mined in the world. The profession of demining has previously also been seen as a dangerous and heavy job carried out by men, but now there are female deminers all over Iraq.

– We have experienced wars, conflicts, hunger and losses. We’ve been through it all. Therefore, the woman became as strong as the man, says deminer Ruqia Abdallah.
