The US key interest rate is raised by 75 basis points, a so-called triple increase, to the range of 2.25-2.50 percent. This is stated by the Federal Reserve. The increase was expected.

The increase comes against the background of the rising rate of inflation that has affected the US and the rest of the world.

In June, the country’s inflation rate was 9.1 percent, the highest figure since 1981.

At the last interest rate announcement in June, the Fed raised the key interest rate by 75 basis points – the largest rate increase in 28 years. Then the interest rate was raised to the range of 1.50-1.75 percent.
