The FBK captain’s heartbreaking words – after the tragic death of his former teammate: “My heart broke”

Alexander Reichenberg is dead.
Now the former Färjestad player is mourned by former teammates.
– My heart is in pieces, says FBK team captain Linus Johansson.

It was during Sunday that the shock news came. Alexander Reichenberg, who played hockey in both Färjestad and Oskarshamn, is dead. The Norwegian was only 31 years old.

Just turned 31 years old

Reichenberg spent most of his hockey career in Lillehammer, Norway. But he also managed games in the Czech Republic, and Sparta Prague, as well as games in the SHL, where he represented both Färjestad and Oskarshamn. He was in Oskarshamn as recently as 2019/2020.

During his career, there were also games in several major championships for Norway, not least during the Olympics in Pyeongchang 2018. Last season he scored a whopping 44 points in 41 games for Lillehammer in the Norwegian league. It was Lillehammer that first shared the tragic news on Sunday.

“For our club and our team, Alexander was a big profile. A player with an x-factor in the game who contributed a lot to the group. He used his international experience to motivate the team’s young players who were at the beginning of their careers,” they wrote on Twitter.

The FBK captain’s grief

Now he is also supported by several SHL profiles. When Reichenberg played in Färjestad in 2018/2019, he played with Linus Johansson, who is today the team captain in the Karlstad team.

– I just heard it. My heart broke, says Johansson to Expressen and continues:

– I played with him in Färjestad, but also met him in Norway and was there when he was recruited to Färjestad. I feel most sad now that I got the news.

Linus Johansson describes Reichenberg as an “incredibly funny guy”‚ and someone who believed in himself a lot. That image is shared by Johannes Salmonsson, who played with the Norwegian in Oskarshamn.

– You are shocked, it feels unreal. I remember him as a happy and nice guy from our time together in Oskarshamn, he says.
