ALING SAUCE. On Monday afternoon, Mika talked to his son Henrik, 15, about the school day.
Afterwards, the father went into town to meet a friend – since then he has not seen or heard from his son.
– It will be a sleepless night tonight. As everyone else has been, says Mika.
On Friday afternoon, the police cordoned off an area of just over a kilometer around a stream in Alingsås. It is the latest action in the hunt for Henrik, 15, who has been reported missing since Tuesday morning.
In the apartment where he lives, the immediate family has gathered.
– We help each other. His big brother and little sister are here with me, says Henrik’s father Mika.
The last point that Henrik’s phone managed to connect to is an intersection, which has been located using the map function on Snapchat. After that point no one knows where he might have gone.
It is near that place that the police have now set up their cordons.
– You live in a vacuum. It’s not possible to sleep much, says Mika.
“Getting drained”
Mika met his son at 4 pm in the afternoon. They were seen at home in the apartment talking about how the school day had been. Mika didn’t notice anything special or odd about his son’s behavior.
After they had spoken, Mika headed into town to meet a friend. At 18.45 he was home again.
– I waited for him and tried to call. But the phone was off, or the battery was dead.
The next morning, Mika peeked into her son’s room, to see if he had come home late and snuck in to go to bed.
– He hadn’t done that. I tried to call him again, and then I went to the police and filed a report.
How have the days since then been?
– Annoying. Insomniacs. Yes, you get drained, says Mika, Henrik’s father.
Suspicion of kidnapping
Information that came to the police after Henrik was reported missing led to the suspicion that he had been kidnapped. That information only became public on Thursday.
On Friday evening, three people were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping. The prosecutor has previously told Aftonbladet that he does not want to go into details about the suspects at this time.
– We work broadly and we look at what could be behind this, prosecutor Andreas Ekengren told Aftonbladet earlier on Friday.
“It will be a sleepless night”
Mika describes his son as a completely ordinary 15-year-old boy, with a burning interest in ice hockey. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a donut shirt with “FHC” (Frölunda Hockey Club) printed on the chest, a dark blue down vest, black training pants and black shoes.
– He is happy and social, and passionate about his hockey. He always gets in touch, if the battery runs out he borrows a friend’s mobile phone. He has never slept over at a friend’s place without contacting me, says Mika.
When Aftonbladet meets Mika, a drizzle falls on the asphalt. It is Friday evening in Alingsås at the beginning of October. Almost 100 hours have passed since he last saw or heard from his son.
– It will be a sleepless night. As everyone else has been.
Mika concludes:
– If anyone sees anything or has seen anything suspicious after Monday at 4 p.m., I want them to call the police. Any tips are valuable.
