Frölunda chooses to dump Loui Eriksson.
A controversial decision that has now caused great anger.

For a long time wanted Louis Eriksson make a comeback to Frölunda and play for the favorite team again. But Frölunda were not completely sold on the idea and chose to wait until last season.

Only a little into the hockey season, the Gothenburgers chose to give the 37-year-old a contract, much after nagging from the team captain and friend Joel Lundqvist. Loui thanked for the trust and responded with 19 points in 34 games in the SHL return, then there were another 7 points in 13 games in the SM playoffs.

Eriksson has been open to continuing to play in Frölunda next season, but now the unexpected news has come that stirs up a lot of emotions. Then the SHL club chooses to dump the veteran completely and not offer a new contract.

Anger against Frölunda
Loui Eriksson has already expressed his disappointment over the decision and now the fans are also venting their anger against the decision to let a player down so completely. Above all, the fans are really disappointed with the sports director Fredrik Sjöström.
“Requires a damn good explanation from Sjöström here. Pretty clear that they pissed him right in the face if you go by what he has said. And Roger (Rönnberg, coach) sits and talks crap a couple of days before it comes out that he can’t stay. Smells like cat shit, this,” writes the supporter profile Erik Andersin on Twitter.

Several others have responded to the Twitter rant, also expressing their outrage at the move to let Eriksson, with 1,050 NHL games on his record, go completely.
“This hurt so damn much. Sjöström can bring in any damn super name now will still not forgive him. He has really lost his way now,” writes one user.
“The way the team looks now, I can’t understand how Loui isn’t offered another year? A player who loves Frölunda, mixes class with routine and also doesn’t cost much. Loui can basically deliver in any chain and never backs down,” writes another.
