The Swedish pop star Zara Larsson25, did an interview for the magazine Popcrave where she talks about her latest song “End Of Time”, which was released in May.
On Twitter, however, the pop star was criticized for her participation and in a tweet she dissed the interview:
“Doing an interview with popcrave is like the lowest anyone can fall omg, this would be like me doing an interview with oomf (stands for ‘one of my friends’, eds note).”
Zara Larsson: “Heard that McDonald’s wanted to interview you for new shifts”
The pop star didn’t like the tweet and she was quick to hit back:
“Ok but you’ve seen it so I guess it worked and Popcrave has always been genuinely supportive so why wouldn’t I give them my time? I heard McDonald’s wanted to interview you for new shifts.”
Many fans thought her tweet was clever, but there were also those who didn’t appreciate it and got upset.
Several fans point out that it is distasteful to write that it would be bad to work at a fast food chain. The pop star is now accused of being “classist”, meaning the belief that people from certain social classes are better than others.
“So trite”
“No one is worse than you for working a fast food job my love,” one fan wrote and another added:
“I agreed with you until you used working at McDonald’s as a derogatory term as if you are better than a McDonald’s worker.”
At the same time, another fan wrote:
“Using part-time work as a trait is so trite and classist because it clearly shows that you see fast food workers as beneath you.”
Zara Larsson has not commented on the criticism.
