The famous Kalmar wolf is behind attacks on sheep in Kronoberg

On January 2, sheep were attacked by wolves in Hallaryd in Älmhult municipality. A week later, sheep were attacked by wolves in Traryd in Markaryd municipality.

The County Administrative Board has taken DNA tests after the attacks, and it shows that the attacks were carried out by the same wolf that at the end of last year attacked several herds of domesticated animals in Kalmar County.

Hit on DNA tests

The DNA tests from Hallaryd show that it is the wolf that the County Administrative Board in Kalmar County announced a protective hunt for.

The tests from Traryd were contaminated and could not be used, but the proximity in time and place between the attacks makes the County Administrative Board in Kronoberg still suspect that it is the same wolf here as well.

The protective hunt in Kalmar county was appealed and the decision was overturned by the administrative court in Luleå. This has since been appealed by the county administrative board, and now the ball is in the Court of Appeal.
