The family rushed to Balmoral as Queen Elizabeth’s health deteriorated.

Prince Harry’s plane was still in the air when the news of his death came.

Only King Charles and Princess Anne made it before the Queen fell asleep.

On Thursday, family members received the dramatic news that Queen Elizabeth only had hours to live, reports say Daily Mail.

Son King Charles, 73, was seen carrying a briefcase as he boarded the court’s burgundy helicopter with his wife Camilla, 75, and set off for Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Sister Princess Anne, 72, was already at the castle earlier on Thursday morning.

They were the only family members who made it to Elizabeth and were able to sit by her side before she fell asleep at the age of 96.

Prince William, 40, Prince Andrew, 62, and Prince Edward, 58, traveled together and were photographed in a Range Rover speeding past the gates of the royal residence, just over an hour after the death sentence.

Prince Harry, 37, was still in his private jet, heading towards Aberdeen when he was reached by the news. He arrived only at 21:00, Swedish time.

When Queen Elizabeth died, her son Charles immediately took over the throne of the British royal house.

Funeral September 19

He describes the mother’s death notice as “the greatest sadness”.

“We deeply mourn the passing of a cherished, sovereign and much-loved mother. I know her passing will be deeply felt throughout the country and affect countless people around the world,” he writes in a statement.
The Queen’s coffin is expected to remain at Balmoral for a couple of days before being flown to London next week. On Monday, September 19, the state funeral awaits at Westminster Abbey before Elizabeth is taken to her final resting place in Windsor.
