On a Sunday morning in September 2012, a gray Audi leaves an apartment block in Askim in southwest Gothenburg. Police detectives are following the car, which is driving south along the E6. Behind the wheel sits a man in his 40s. In the passenger seat: his resident. The man is a Tunisian citizen, and a little more than eleven years later he will shoot dead two Swedes and seriously injure a third. His friends often call him Slim – but his name is Abdesalem Lassoued.
