Even though Jumper grossed over $225 million worldwide on a budget of just over $85 million, according to Box Office Mojo, the sci-fi story remained a standalone film. The novel on which the film is based offered even more volumes to continue the story. Leading actor Hayden Christensen also spoke about the fact before the theatrical release Jumper definitely designed for multiple films was.

In addition to the financial box-office result, Jumper is likely to have failed primarily because of the reception. The reviews at the time were scathing and above all criticized a miserably written screenplay. At Rotten Tomatoes, Jumper only has a meager 15 percent average to date.

A kind of jumper lookup was only available on YouTube Premium. Here 2 seasons of the spin-off series Impulse were published, revolving around another main character with teleportation abilities. In 2020, however, the offshoot was also discontinued.
