Tried for domestic violence, rapper Moha La Squale was sentenced to three years in prison this Friday, July 5.

After four days of trial, the verdict: the rapper Moha the Shark is sentenced to four years in prison, three of which are firm, with a committal warrant. The 29-year-old artist has been on trial since Tuesday before the 14th chamber of the Paris Criminal Court for violence, death threats and kidnapping of six of his former partners, present at the hearing. All accuse him of acts that occurred between January 2017 and November 2021. The plaintiffs, who came to testify in court, denounced similar acts.

“First, psychological violence: insults, humiliating remarks and death threats. Then physical acts: slaps, hair pulling, strangulation and suffocation with a pillow,” listed the prosecutor on Thursday, who had requested a six-year prison sentence, two of which were suspended, reports The Parisian. In court, one of the victims recounted acts of violence that allegedly occurred on a shoot with the media outlet Konbini in 2018. He then strangled her, insulted her and began “to suffocate her with a pillow.” Another young woman recounted having been “beaten up, pulled by the hair and locked in the trunk of the car” of the artist.

In addition to his prison sentence, Moha La Squale will be required to seek psychological treatment and will be prohibited from contacting his victims. The French rapper was placed in pre-trial detention in mid-June 2022 for failure to comply with his judicial supervision and was indicted in July 2022 for rape, a criminal offence, against another ex-partner. Last February, while he was under a European arrest warrant and wearing an electronic ankle bracelet, he was arrested in Germany. One of the six plaintiffs had also accused Moha La Squale of raping her in 2021. In this case, the rapper had been dismissed.
