After two years of trying to keep the show going online, gamescom will make its big comeback in Cologne this year. It’s here German Games Industry Association (GAME) which confirmed the information, closely followed by Geoff Keighley who announced that he will open the show with the Opening Night Live. Good news for the organizers, but also for the publishers and the players who will be able to meet at the Koelnmesse around a lounge that will still be careful with hygiene security. Gamescom 2022 will therefore be held from August 24 to 28 inclusive, knowing that Felix Falk, general manager of the German Games Industry Association, expects a drop in attendance compared to the year 2019 which had exploded records, with 370 000 tickets sold. Also, this year again, some events will still take place online, so that the transition takes place in the best conditions. After the Tokyo Game Show and now gamescom, which are back in physical form, the question of E3 then arises, which has been announced by certain insiders and well-placed journalists that the Los Angeles show will still be online. It’s not too late for the ESA to change its mind and start working on it…
Happy to announce I have signed a new deal to continue producing and hosting @gamescom Opening Night Live.
