The extreme heat is putting pressure on Italy’s healthcare | SVT News

The extreme heat in Southern Europe is forcing more and more people to seek care. In Italy, the number of patients in emergency departments has increased by over 20 percent in recent days.

According to the hospitals, many are either dehydrated or suffering from other symptoms as a result of the high temperatures, writes La Repubblica.

On Wednesday, the number of Italian cities receiving the highest heat warning was also extended from 20 to 23.

The ECRR has issued a high temperature warning for large parts of Italy, northeastern Spain, Croatia, southern Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia.
