The detonation last night was heard over large parts of Stockholm and caused extensive material damage.
At the address, a 26-year-old man is written together with his father. The man is linked to the criminal Foxtrot network. He has been convicted several times for serious drug offences, weapons offenses and explosions.
According to information given to TV4 Nyheterna, the police are working on the theory that he was the target of the explosion in Sundbyberg.
– I have seen him as a very tidy, ordinary guy. Then it must have escalated, says Agneta, a neighbor of the crime scene.
A deed that surprises
Just a few hours after the explosion, the man was in the Attunda district court’s security room, where he stands accused of aiding and abetting the murder of a man who was found shot outside a restaurant in Solna last year.
There are currently no clear answers as to why it has detonated at the address of a detained gang criminal. That’s what Kim Malmgren, crime reporter at Expressen, thinks.
– It is surprising to me. I have spoken to many police officers who also work close to this environment who do not really understand why this is happening. All you have are theories now really, says Malmgren in Efter fem.
– You go back to this wave of violence that was last year. However ruthless it may have been, one could understand why something happened. We don’t really have that here yet, he continues.
“Assumed key role”
The 26-year-old has previously served a multi-year prison sentence. When the wave of violence started in early 2023, he was out again, according to Kim Malmgren’s information.
– He assumes some kind of key role. He is not a core person, but more of a hired competence that ensures that the deed you want to get done is done, says Malmgren.
Excluding the night’s explosions, Stockholm 2024 has had a quiet start. The crime reporter finds it difficult to answer whether the explosion will now be followed by acts of revenge and a new spiral of violence.
– What we saw last year with deed upon deed upon deed, there was very much emotionally involved there. There was a great deal of pent-up capital of violence between the two sides. He doesn’t really have that connection, says Malmberg.
– I find it difficult to see that there would obviously be someone who would spend a lot of time, energy and money on revenge. But you shouldn’t say never in these contexts.
So far, no one has been arrested for the bombing in Sundbyberg.
