Sweden got off to a disastrous start at the Biathlon World Cup.
Now comes the explanation.
– It is the skaters’ responsibility, absolutely, says coach Jean Marc Chabloz to SVT.
Sweden was in a great position for a top position when the Biathlon World Cup began on Wednesday. But when Sebastian Samuelsson was about to shoot, everything suddenly went wrong. He had three misses out of five, and also missed all extra shots. Sweden ended up ninth, and the nightmare was total.
The explanation for the fiasco
Samuelsson was completely broken afterwards, but immediately meant that there was something wrong with the weapon. And it was easy to believe. Samuelsson has an extremely high minimum level, and the misses he had were too rough, everyone thought. And that’s exactly how it was. Late yesterday came the explanation of what actually happened.
Samuelsson writes on Instagram that the screws holding the rifle to the stock were loose. In SVT, the expert Helena Ekholm then sat and explained how it could actually happen.
– There are two screws in the stock that hold the system (with the barrel) and when you travel, you remove this, says Ekholm.

“It’s his responsibility”
And his coach, Jean Marc Chabloz, says the same thing. It is simply a miss after taking the weapon apart.
– It really happened easily. He needs to disassemble the system from the log and when he assembles it, it is easy to think that you have tightened properly. And in Sebbe’s case, it was that he thought it fit well. It sat in three sessions, but not during the race, he tells SVT.
And there is no doubt that it is on someone other than Sebbe himself.
– It is the riders’ responsibility, it absolutely is, says Chabloz.
