The financial consequences of a divorce can come as a surprise to many.

Without your own home and larger liquid assets, it can be difficult to get back on your feet after a separation.

Ivannia Liljebäck Hult told TV4 Nyheterna about how she was advised to withdraw from the children’s savings when she divorced her husband.

Family law lawyer Sanne Andersson has three points that she thinks are particularly important to consider if you are considering divorce – dare to get help, try to build up a buffer and be patient.

– First of all, you need to consult an expert to review the situation. It’s about getting support to come to an agreement – it’s the cheapest and easiest way out of a property division, she says.

But there are things to think about even before marriage, topics that may seem formal and boring but which often help one if the relationship does not last.

– This includes prenuptial agreements and promissory notes, so that you are aware of what it will be like if you get divorced one day and that it does not come as a shock, says Sanne Andersson.
