The Swedish center has been responsible for a fantastic play-off.
Now he is compared to one of the world’s very best players.
– Can be compared to Ovetchkin, says Zach Gelb.
Mika Zibanejad is without a doubt one of Sweden’s biggest stars at the moment. The center has scored points for its Rangers this season, and really carried the team on its shoulders.
The Swede’s fabulous final game
The Swede averaged one point per game during the regular season. These are incredible numbers in the whole world’s best hockey league. But since the playoffs kicked off, Zibanejad has further increased his points production.
The 29-year-old has accounted for 24 points in 18 matches and is third in the points league during the playoffs. In total, ten of those points are goals, and most have Zibanejad accounted for in powerplay.
There have been six goals in that form of play for the Swede, and now the figure is compared with one of the NHL’s very best players – namely Aleksandr Ovetjkin.
“Looks like Ovetchkin”
It is in the popular NHL radio program The Zach Gelb Show on CBS that the host sees similarities with Zibanejad’s game with Ovetchkin in numerical superiority.
“Mika – he’s starting to look like Ovetchkin in powerplay”, says Zach Gelb and his sidekick takes over:
“He does that. He’s a real lyre player. In my opinion, he is Rangers most important player besides the goalkeeper. Zibanejad runs the team, is a two-way player with a lot of responsibility. He’s finally starting to get the attention he deserves, “says expert Keith Jones.
