The expert’s sharp criticism of Hanna Öberg – now points out a critical detail: “It’s catastrophic”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Success in the sprint.
But at the start of the chase, Hanna Öberg and the other Swedes shot away.
Now the stars are seen by Radiosport’s expert – who also points out a crucial detail.
– It is catastrophic, says Uschi Disl.

It was a successful Swedish start to this year’s Biathlon World Cup for the ladies. In the championship’s first individual distance, Hanna Öberg was second and Linn Persson third, after extremely impressive shooting. Both shot full, and gave themselves a golden position for Sunday’s chase start.

Failure on the firing line

Unfortunately, a blue-yellow Swedish setback came even before the competition, when Elvira Öberg announced that she had fallen ill, and was forced to stop. And that was just the beginning of what would be an almost nightmarish day for the Swedish ladies. Only Hanna Öberg had five(!) misses, which meant a race in the results list.

Linn Persson had three barriers, and in total the four Swedish skaters had a total of 14 barriers. Hanna Öberg was 12th, Linn Persson 10th, Mona Brorsson 15th and Anna Magnusson 18th. And afterwards Radiosport’s expert Uschi Disl was very critical.

– Hanna Öberg shoots pretty much disastrously. Five booms for her is way too much in a hunting start, she says.

Pointing out detail

An explanation for the shooting breakdown can be spelled out by the fog that lay over the shooting embankment. It wasn’t entirely easy to see – but Disl doesn’t fully buy that explanation either.

– It’s clear that it’s fog, you can see that it’s close, but it turned out that others could hit… Julia Simon only has one barrier, it’s a really good competition. There must have been some purpose, she says.

In addition to the weak shooting, the Swedes also had a difficult day in the track, when no one was close to a top result in pure riding time. New times for the ladies will be on Wednesday, when there is a distance race starting at 14.15. The same time but a day earlier is the time for the men’s competition in the same distance.
