The expert’s great tribute to Leo Borg after the super talent’s mighty milestone: “I suffer with him”

Leo Borg lost again in the Davis Cup.
But the super talent is now praised to the skies for his effort.
– I suffer with him, says SVT expert Magnus Gustafsson.

Leo Borg has had a fantastic year and his development is really pointing straight up. In August he won on the ITF tour in Indonesia, which not only brought SEK 40,000 to the coffers, but he also climbed from place 407 to 375 in the world ranking.

Close to bang again

A year and a half ago, Leo Borg was ranked above 2000 in the world, but his new career best really points to what an incredible exchange the super talent has had. Now that Mikael Ymer has also finished his career, even greater hopes are placed on Leo Borg during Sweden’s matches in the Davis Cup – where Borg has now played two matches. It was unfortunately a loss in his Davis Cup debut, against the much higher ranked Chilean Cristian Karin.

However, Borg was close to a bang there – just as he was in the second Davis Cup match of his career, which was played on Thursday. Canadian Vasek Pospisil, ranked 187th in the world, needed a full seven clips to win the first set, and in the second Leo Borg won 7-5. The third set was even, but in the end Pospisil was able to pull away, and he eventually won the match 2-1.

The expert’s tribute

Leo Borg has now, during two games played, shown that he knows bigger players ranked much higher than him – and in SVT the expert Magnus Gustafsson praised Leo Borg.

– So sad, I suffer with Leo. He’s had great sets. Hope he can reload because there’s a good chance he can turn this around, the expert said during the broadcast.

Elias Ymer also lost his match against Gabriel Diallo, with a clear 2-0, which means a loss for Sweden against Canada. Canada also won the dual meet which set the final score 3-0.
