Four straight losses and eliminated already in the quarter-finals.
Per Svartvadet disagrees with his criticism of Färjestad.
– That is not acceptable, says the expert.
Färjestad was tipped by many as the big gold favorite in the SHL this season. They made a superb regular season that ended with a first place, and in the quarter-finals Rögle awaited, who was only ninth in the SHL table. But it was a sensational quarter-final series.
Big fiasco
Rögle managed to win both of the first away games, and in the two following home games extra time was required. But both games three and four ended the same way, with Rögle winning, which means 4-0 in games, and that Färjestad’s season is already over. For the second year in a row, the Karlstad team is thus already out in the quarter-finals, and afterwards there were many who were self-critical in FBK.
Magnus Nygren, who returned home to Färjestad for this season, said that it will take time to digest being swept by Rögle.
– This is extremely difficult to digest, far from approved. It feels shameful in some way, feels like you have let the whole county down, he says.
The giant criticism
Per Svartvadet, an expert on Radiosport, does not hold back on what a big fiasco it is for Färjestad.
– It is among the biggest failures that happened in the 2000s. Färjestad, great in the regular season and has a superb squad, especially offensively, has not made it work at all, he says, and continues:
– You don’t win a single game in this playoff, it’s clear that it’s a huge failure.
Svartvadet believes that it is Färjestad’s offensive that failed.
– Just the forward players who will drive this team, I am thinking of Victor Ejdsell, Linus Johansson, David Tomasek and Joakim Nygård, they have not delivered. They have not reached a level that is acceptable, and Färjestad is lacking there, he says.
