Erik Karlsson is close to a move.
Now comes new information from credible expert Elliotte Friedman.
And he confirms what many suspected.
Erik Karlsson is the entire NHL’s biggest topic of conversation right now. The Swede is coming off a record season where he became the first defender in 30(!) years to reach 100 points in the league. However, it was not enough for the playoffs, and it is pretty much clear that Karlsson will change teams this summer.
Confirming now
The San Jose Sharks will begin a proper rebuilding phase this summer, and to make it possible they need to get rid of large parts of Erik Karlsson’s monster contract. At the same time, the Swede wants to play in a team that challenges for the Stanley Cup, which means that a move is already confirmed. But to which team remains to be seen.
There has now been more and more talk about the Pittsburgh Penguins for a few weeks. The team has star players like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, and will make a solid attempt to win the title next season. However, there has also been talk that the big-spending Carolina Hurricanes are interested – and now the credible expert Elliotte Friedman, perhaps the NHL’s biggest trend guru, confirms what many suspected; namely that it is precisely the two teams that are involved.

The expert’s new words
Friedman says the Hurricanes and Penguins are settling the whole thing, and it’s now only a matter of time before either team reaches an agreement.
– It’s a bit of a poker match right now. You just wait for something to make a move and for it to click, he says.
However, it is a puzzle to put together. The Sharks can consider keeping some of Karlsson’s fat salary in a trade, but not too much.
– We have a situation right now where no party is one hundred percent satisfied. What is required is for someone to change their attitude and for the pulse to change just a little, says Elliotte Friedman.
