The expert explained how many liters of water should be

Assoc. Dr. Ramazan Danış made statements about whether kidney patients should fast during the month of Ramadan. Assoc. Prof. stated that diabetes and blood pressure diseases lead to kidney failure and that these patients should fast under the supervision of a physician. Dr. Danış said, “We receive many questions from patients during Ramadan. Should we fast or not? Or questions arise about what we should pay attention to while fasting.

Water consumption is very important during Ramadan. First of all, kidneys are vital organs, of which there are two in the body, that perform small but major tasks. We need to take good care of our kidneys. Because the kidneys are where many medications pass, from cleansing the body to excreting waste products. There are two most common causes of kidney failure, especially in Turkey and Europe; diabetes and hypertension. “These patients absolutely need to have their sugar and blood pressure checks,” he said.

“THE BEST FRIEND OF THE KIDNEY IS WATER”

Assoc. Prof. stated that fasting individuals should consume at least 2.5 liters of water a day, spread over the time between iftar and sahur. Dr. Danış said, “The month of Ramadan is actually relaxing for the body, apart from the spiritual aspect. But my advice, especially to those with chronic kidney disease or kidney failure, is not to fast. Science also speaks in this direction. Islam is a religion of ease and tolerance. That’s why there is no religious call for those with chronic diseases to fast.

The kidney’s best friend is water. A person needs to drink 2.5 liters of water a day. Especially after iftar, water consumption should be spread over the time between iftar and sahur by drinking 2-3 glasses of water rather than relying on water directly. During this time, at least 2.5 liters of water must be consumed. “It is especially necessary to avoid toxic substances, painkillers and other substances during the month of Ramadan,” he said.
