During the next three summer months, many Swedes will check out from work, studies and other obligations for some much-needed vacation.

But being off doesn’t always come cheap and it’s easy for money to run away at breakneck speed.

Economists have also flagged that the exchange rates will be as bad as last summer for Swedes who intend to go outside Sweden’s borders.

– In our January forecast, we had the krone standing at 11 kroner against the euro on June 30 this year. That won’t happen now, said Matthias Perssonchief economist at Swedbank, told TT in April when surprisingly high inflation figures were presented in the US.

The expenses you should be aware of on holiday

And according to Frida Brattwho is a savings economist at Nordnet Bank, it is in particular the small expenses, which you may not think about during the holidays, that overall can really sting the wallet.

– Here I think that lunch out or take away coffee can be culprits, or buying bottled water when it’s hot instead of bringing your own water bottle from home, she says to News24 and continues:

There is also one thing that Bratt strongly advises against before the holiday.

– Something I absolutely think you should avoid is taking a loan to go on holiday or to consume. It comes back sour, she says.
