The expansion of the Kiruna Sami school is postponed to the future

Kiruna Sami school was to be expanded starting immediately after the spring semester last year. At least that’s how it sounded last year. But no new construction started this summer.

– The original building plan for which we have planning permission will be very expensive and costly as it requires major interventions in this school, says Gustav Sixten Inga.

Middle school is lifted out

Instead, the building plans have now been revised to find a cheaper solution. It is now hoped that the slightly cheaper construction will be able to start next year instead.

Until then, the cramped students will have to live with modules.

– We are expanding with four more modules shortly. So we lift the entire middle school out into a modular solution so we have room in the school, says Gustav Sixten Inga.
