The car world has an ability to unite people from all over the world, something you get a receipt for if you frequent various car events around the world.
Below is a series of events – both domestic and international – that are well worth a visit.
January
Retromobile Paris
Every year Rétromobile is held in Paris. It is one of the world’s largest fairs for classic cars with over 130,000 visitors and 400 exhibitors. 2024 marks the event’s 48th year.
The event is held between January 31 and February 4, 2024.

The ICE St. Moritz
Many classic car enthusiasts are afraid to rest their cars when there is snow in the weather report. However, this is not the case for The ICE St. Moritz, a Concours event held on a frozen lake in exclusive St. Moritz, Switzerland.
We have previously attended and what you are treated to are priceless cars that invite you to dance in winter gear. It is a fantastic display that is well worth a visit to the Alps.
Mark 23 to 24 February 2024 in your calendar if you want to attend.

Moda Miami
After 20 years at the Amelia, the auction house RM Sotheby’s decided to bet on Moda Miami instead. 2024 will be the first year that it is held and is described as a multi-day celebration of cars, culture, and ultimate luxury experiences.
Moda Mami runs from February 29 to March 3 in Miami, Florida, USA.

The Amelia
The event takes place the same weekend as the aforementioned Moda Miami.
The Amelia Concours d’Elegance – also known as The Amelia – which we have previously visited, is one of the automotive world’s most exclusive events. Held on Amelia Island in northern Florida, it offers a range of auctions and motoring history trinkets.
The event is open to everyone and despite the exclusive range and location, it is extremely crowded.
The Amelia is held between March 1 and 3, 2024.

Techno Classica Essen
The world’s largest fair for classic cars takes place every year in Essen. We attended earlier this year and what you are met with is exhibition hall after exhibition hall, jam-packed with fine cars to view.
In 2024, the event will take place on April 3 and 7.

Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este
One of the world’s most exclusive events, in all categories, is the Concorso d’Eleganza held annually at Villa d’Este on Lake Como.
We have attended a number of times and what you are met with is a potpourri of sprezzatura, negroni, and completely incomparable cars. Each class is incredibly niche and you can only get access if you are invited.
It is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the classic car calendar.
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este will take place from 24 to 26 May 2024.

Gärdesloppet
On home soil – the same weekend as above – the Royal Automobile Club’s 102-year event, the Gärdesloppet, takes place.
In 2024, the Gärdesloppet returns to Gärdet, just like when it all began, after having been organized in the meadows at Djurgårdsbrunn previously.
This year, attendance records are expected to be broken, both in terms of audience and number of cars.

Le Mans
2023 was a really good year for the legendary long-distance race Le Mans, as it was the race’s centenary. We attended in the company of Ferrari, GM, and Michelin and were treated to a public celebration with 350,000 spectators.
2024 offers a lot of exciting things in the form of an extended top class – called Hypercars – where participants such as BMW, Lamborghini and Cadillac are expected to participate.

Goodwood Festival of Speed
What makes the Goodwood Festival of Speed unique is the fact that it is one of the few events where you get to see classic collector cars being driven for king and country. Instead of standing and crowded on a lawn, the cars are used to rest properly.
The name Festival is not used entirely without reason, but it is indeed a fast-paced car festival. We have attended in the past and recommend everyone with the slightest drop in octane in their blood to go there promptly.
Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024 takes place from 11 to 14 July.

Monterey Car Week
Just as the name suggests, Monterey Car Week is a full week of car-related events. In fact, it’s nine days, jam-packed with both.
The week opened with more grassroots events and ended with The Quail – a car-centric garden party for billionaires – and the famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The entire classic car world flocks to Monterey during this week in August and it’s not unusual to see cars like Bugatti, Pagani, and Koenigsegg being driven around. Because Monterey is so small, most people are forced to stay in motels, which drives up the prices to thousands of kroner a night.

IAA Transportation
For those who are not as enthusiastic about classic cars, there are fairs like the IAA. Since 2021 it has taken place in Munich, having been organized in Frankfurt since 1897. There is also a part of the IAA called Transportation, which is for transport cars.
The IAA oscillates between being called Mobility and Transportation depending on the year. In 2023, it was Mobility that applied, which is why Transportation will disappear in 2024.
IAA Transportation is held in Hannover and in 2024 it will be September 17 to 22.
October
Paris Motor Show
Another event for the new car fan is the Paris show. The number of car shows has slowly but surely dwindled, but the Paris show continues to draw in visitors, even if the number of exhibitors has decreased.
If nothing else, you can see a visit to Paris as a wonderful complement to a nice car show.
The Paris Motor Show 2024 is open to the public from October 15 to 20.
November
LA Auto Show
For nine days in Los Angeles, the LA Auto Show is organized annually. In 2023, around 30 car brands participated and a series of launches took place, including Lucid Gravity, the American electric car brand’s new SUV.
There are a number of test drive opportunities and with a temperature of around 20 degrees, Los Angeles is decidedly pleasant, at least weather-wise, in November.

A big advantage of the car world is that it is teeming with opportunities to meet like-minded people. There really is something for everyone and to claim anything other than that cars unite is not true.
We are undoubtedly looking forward to the car year 2024 and hope to attend as many events as possible!
