The Australian Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) announced yesterday that they were searching for a small capsule containing radioactive material that slipped and fell while being transported by a truck between a mining site near Newman city and the city of Perth between 10-16 January. It was emphasized that the cylindrical capsule, which is 8 mm long and 6 mm in diameter, contains the radioactive Cesium-137 substance.
CAUSES VARIOUS DISEASES
It was stated that the radioactive material was used for measurement in mining and was not enough to make weapons. Authorities warned the people in the disappearing area that exposure to the substance would cause radiation burns and various radiation-related diseases. It was stated that the search teams used radiation measurement devices while searching the capsule.
